Shema Hassan

"Real growth happens with being uncomfortable, with pushing yourself, setting boundaries and investing in your healing each day."

My name is Shema Hassan and I practice from a compassionate client-centered lens. I strongly believe my clients are the authors of their lives, and I will be there to guide them every step of the way. We have all gone through trials, fallen off course, and felt lost at one point or another. If you are reading this, that means you have taken the first step in changing your life. I will be there to help you navigate through these obstacles. I will walk alongside you and help you adapt better coping mechanisms and work with you to formulate a plan on the road to healing.

As a Registered Social Worker with a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Ryerson University, I have obtained a Masters in social work from Wilfrid Laurier University. Specializing in teens, young adults, grief counseling, and life coaching, I also provide counseling for individuals suffering from anxiety, depression, postpartum depression, self-limiting beliefs, feeling stuck, and relationship issues. The theoretical approaches I implement are based on my client’s unique needs and include CBT, strength-based, and solution-focused therapy. I practice from a culturally sensitive lens and offer faith-based therapy, utilizing an anti-oppression framework.

With over 10 years of professional experience, I have worked with a diverse range of clients both in person and virtually. I have experienced overcoming grief, intergenerational trauma, and postpartum anxiety. I was able to work through these issues and learn new coping mechanisms, change my negative habits, and rewire my brain to become the best version of myself. We are all broken in some way or another. However, we do not have to stay broken. Due to my personal and professional experience, I have been able to help countless individuals like yourself transform, heal, and grow. I am committed to helping you do the same.
