Osman Khan
Welcome! My name is Osman, and it would be an honor to work with you.
I take a person-centered and systemic approach to therapy, which means I take an approach to better understand you, the client in front of me; your history, values, religious beliefs, relationships, and community. I will take time to make you feel heard, highlighting your struggles and reasons for therapy, but most importantly let’s rediscover your strengths.
Joining in different modalities of therapy (CBT, DBT, SFBT, Systemic/Structural Therapy, Trauma Informed Care, and EFT), I will help to co-create unique goals in therapy, at a pace where you feel comfortable. I am comfortable in supporting clients in English, Hindi, and Urdu.
Over the past nine (9) years, I have worked in hospital settings, community mental health agencies, the Ontario Justice system, and academic institutions, supporting a variety of clients from all ages and diverse cultural/racial backgrounds. The clients I have supported have come with complex mental health and behavioral issues, substance use and addictions, family changes, relationships/breakups, identity and sexuality, immigration, career, and financial issues. I have worked hard to build a strong foundation in individual, couples, and family therapy, during my formal education years, and professionally as a wellness counselor/therapist, family therapist, and mental health court worker.
Being born in the West to parents who migrated from the East, I understand firsthand the struggles individuals and families face while trying to balance different cultures and traditions while holding on to our faith.
I have also given back to the communities that I belong to, by volunteering at the Crisis Line Distress Centre providing support and crisis intervention for clients in distress, and to the Muslim communities in providing mental health workshops and youth mentorship.
Finally, I consider myself an ally to the BIPOC communities and understand the complexities many of them face. Together, we can start your journey of healing, and no matter what has happened we can help you outlive your past!
