Marwa Mahmod
Marwa is a Registered Psychotherapist and a member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists. Her professional journey began in education, where she quickly discovered her true passion lies in compassionately supporting youth and adults as they navigate life challenges and strive for a deeper sense of self-awareness.
Marwa completed her Master of Education in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy at OISE, University of Toronto. Throughout her career, she has honed her expertise in providing crucial support to BIPOC youth and adults, with a particular focus on women’s issues. Marwa has contributed significantly to organizations such as Glendon York University, Toronto District School Board, Nisa Homes and Naseeha Mental Health.
Marwa’s experience spans a wide range of concerns, including stress, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, trauma, grief, domestic abuse, narcissistic abuse, relationship issues, and life transitions. Her dedication to her clients is reflected in her compassionate, strength-based, trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and anti-oppressive approach to therapy.
In her practice, Marwa creates a nurturing, safe, inclusive, and empathic space where she collaboratively works with clients to address their unique needs and goals. Her eclectic approach draws from psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive-Based Therapy (CBT), self-compassion therapy, and mindfulness-based interventions. Marwa views her role as a privilege, recognizing the honor it is to be a part of her clients’ journeys of self-discovery and healing.
For Muslim-identifying clients, Marwa offers faith-based therapy upon request. She provides services in English and has a working knowledge of Arabic, ensuring that language and cultural considerations are integrated into her client-centered approach.
