Job Summary:

The Human Resource Manager will lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Generate internal communications
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
  • Provides support and guidance to management and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
  • Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
  • Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
  • Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Weekly, bi-weekly or monthly status updates from each department to be sent out to all departments to be shared with the volunteers of those departments
  • Maintain volunteer Relations (appreciation dinner, awards/incentives programs)
  • Maintains compliance with laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Documents and collect all organizational level activities and events.
  • Develop strategy for ensuring that all documentation of each department is consistent and all documentations of each department are stored in a central and accessible place
  • Maintain Organizational Calendar for events happening at organizational and departmental level
  • Deadlines for tasks, plan submissions, status updates etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

About Us:

Naseeha USA Inc. (“Naseeha”) is a registered charitable organization. We provide confidential helpline and chat for young Muslims to receive immediate, anonymous, and confidential support over the phone and over text from 12 – 12 am, 7 days a week (Eastern Standard Time). Naseeha launched in 2006, and since has been offering support to young Muslims in North America, to talk about, and work through their issues with our trained counsellors. Our trained counselors are themselves young Muslims with diverse backgrounds and experiences that give them a unique appreciation for the range of issues confronting Muslim youth today. Our mission is to establish a helpline that incorporates Islamic and prophetic-centered understandings and teachings.

We also strive to raise public awareness into, and conduct and support research efforts regarding, effective solutions to support mental health among young Muslims in Canada and abroad. At Naseeha, we aim to provide a progressive, high-value and high-quality service to all of our callers. Statistics show that there is an urgent need for our counselling services and year over year our call statistics indicate the same. There is an increased demand for our service and we are expanding our capacity and operations. As we expand, we expect that the Executive Director will actively work alongside the Board of Directors to positively move the organization forward in a transparent and respectful way that mirrors the Board’s current strategic plan.

Job Summary:

The Regional Development Manager will be responsible for expanding Naseeha USA in the 10 states defined as the North Eastern region of the USA by finding new opportunities, researching leads, and establishing and maintaining relationships. This includes raising awareness, creating initiatives, making partnerships, referrals, fundraising and grants to other organizations, mosques, NGOs, and governmental organizations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Business Development:

Strategic Management

  • Develop yearly and quarterly strategic goals and targets for business development with senior leadership team
  • Manage the expansion of marketing activities and programming to mosques across the surrounding areas
  • Develop and nurture business relationships with external organizations (NGOs and governmental agencies) including PR and fundraising activities, explore grant giving/seeking and collaboration opportunities, execute referrals

Events and Community Management

  • Create and plan community outreach strategy alongside other regional managers
  • Organize and facilitate events to engage the local community members and stakeholders
  • Recruit, train, engage and retain volunteers for events, seminars, fundraising or regional activities

Networking and Partnerships

  • Act as a brand representative for Naseeha USA in all professional activities including participation at community events, masjid announcements, meetings and interactions with stakeholders, etc.
  • Participate in social and networking events as a representative of Naseeha USA
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local imams across the region to gain support for various zakat initiatives
  • Frequently connect and meet with external organizations and mosques for the purposes of outreach, collaboration and funding
  • Participate in PR and Media activities including tv, radio and newspaper interviews.

Administrative, Reporting & Ad-Hoc

  • Maintain an up-to-date database of partners, supporters, and collaborators
  • Report on business development targets and achievements to Program Director on a monthly basis
  • Provide quarterly updates and report on KPIs to senior leadership team
  • Support establishment of Naseeha USA in new regions across USA
  • Travel required within surrounding areas and to main office in Canada
  • Attend all team meetings and trainings as required

Qualifications/Experiences:

  • Has knowledge and experience of the Muslim community they are serving
  • Has professional work experience in one of the following or related sectors: education, social work, psychology, medical/healthcare, accounting, legal or business
  • High computer literacy is a requirement
  • Fluency in English. Proficiency in Arabic and Urdu is an asset
  • Ability to effectively speak and present in small and large audience settings is a requirement
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
  • Strong organization and multi-tasking skills
  • Self-driven individual with the ability to self-manage
  • A valid driver’s license and vehicle are required
  • Flexible schedule is required for evenings and weekends
