She has been working in a clinical (Health Care) setting since 2010. Her professional life includes a commitment to serving the needs of children, adolescent, adults and families as a Clinical Social Worker.

Amara Samad – BSW, RSW

Biography:

Amara Samad is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers; Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers and Alberta College of Social Workers. Amara graduated with a Bachelors of Social Work from University of Regina, Saskatchewan. She has several years of experience working with diverse groups within non-profit organizations and is currently employed with Government of Saskatchewan- Child and Family programs.

Amara is dedicated to providing high-quality care and essential mental health support for those in need using an eclectic approach. She provides a safe, inviting and respectful environment for her clients. She has training in a range of evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Motivational Interviewing and Trauma-Informed Therapy. She specializes in providing counselling services to those struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, managing work-life balance, major life transitions, and relationship issues or family concerns. She takes a collaborative approach to therapy built on trust and openness, and tailor each session specifically to clients’ needs, wants, and goals.

Maher – BSW, RSW

Biography:

Maher is a Registered Counselling Therapist (RCT) with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists and a Canadian Certified Counselor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Maher holds a Master of Education in Counselling (MEd) from Acadia University, Canada; Doctor of Medicine (MD) and a Master in Pediatrics from Syria. Maher is comfortable in providing counselling in both English and Arabic.

Maher is focused on providing services adapted to the client’s needs. His therapeutic approach is rooted in Person Centered Therapy while also incorporating elements of other approaches such as Narrative Therapy and Mindfulness, in consideration with cultural context.

Maher believes that solutions are stored within the clients’ inner resources; by providing unconditional self-acceptance and support, our clients could reach their potential.

In his free time, Maher enjoys hiking, fishing, gardening, and playing his musical instrument “Oud”.

Tarak Ahmed – MSW, RSW

Biography:

Tarak holds a Masters of Social Work from the University of Toronto and a Bachelors of Social Work from Ryerson University. He has over 10 years of working experience providing services related to mental health, addictions, substance use, suicide, crisis intervention, clinical treatment, rehabilitation, and supportive services.

Tarak is a compassionate, client-focused social worker who applies his advanced knowledge of human behaviour, supportive counselling and intervention techniques to support individuals, couples and families through stress, anxiety, depression, life and career transitions, family and relationship issues, and self-esteem issues. He has completed additional training in Solution-Focused, Emotion-Focused, Narrative, and Cognitive-Behavioural approaches. Tarak practices from a holistic, person-centered approach based on meeting clients where they are and helping them reach their goals. He identifies as a Muslim and also provides faith-based therapy.

Tarak is a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, and a board member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers.

Muhammad Umar – BSW, RSW

Biography:

Muhammad Umar is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. He completed his Bachelor of Social Work at the University of Regina and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University.

Muhammad has over eight years of experience in the human service and mental health field, working as a registered Social Worker in various capacities. He has provided assessment and counselling services to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families, presenting with issues ranging from substance use addiction, sexual addiction, gambling addiction, work or academic stress, family stress, panic attacks, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, self-esteem, domestic violence, sexual abuse, trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), teen-parent conflict, couples and family issues.

Since his areas of practice have been diverse, Muhammad demonstrates cultural sensitivity. He welcomes individuals of any race, colour, ethnicity, religious or sexual orientation. He also fluently write and speak four languages: English, Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi.

Muhammad is trained in numerous evidence-based counselling modalities such as Advance Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), just to name a few. In therapy, he adopts an eclectic approach that combines evidence-based counselling techniques with a client-centred and strengths-based focus. With empathy, humour, and compassion, he develops and maintains a therapeutic relationship that fosters healing and growth.

Maleeha – MSW, RSW

Biography:

Maleeha holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) and is a registered member with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). As a Registered Social Workers (RSW), her work is inspired by a client-centred approach with training and experience in therapeutic modalities including: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Emotion Focused Family Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Foundational to Maleeha’s practice is the belief in each individual’s power, strength and personal ability.  Her hope is to cultivate a brave and safe space for clients where stories of heartbreak and breakdowns can be unpacked, and therapeutic breakthroughs can be celebrated. With over fifteen years of experience in the field, this work is close to her heart as she helps her clients reflect on experiences in a safe, compassionate and non-judgmental way.
