With over 3 million Muslims and counting in N.America, the Muslim community, overcoming its 3rd generation, is now extremely diverse, and includes varying beliefs and practices, which are entrenched in the belief of The Shahadah – “There is no God but Allah, and Muhammad is His Messenger”.
In just recent years, major immigration from Muslim majority countries to the West has led to a large generation of Western-born Muslims. This generation has given rise to a distinct identity of so-called “Western Muslims”, with its own unique cultural and linguistic aspects.

Naseeha has a close and fundamental connection to the religion of Islam and was created with the intention of serving the growing population of Western-born Muslims and immigrants. Third world issues in a first world atmosphere is a popular trend amongst Muslim youths today. In fact, as cultural beliefs become more evident, the religion’s values often take the back seat and is often forgotten. Even more than often, parents guide the youth with their interpretation of what they learned growing up, as to be the concrete values of Islam, but what’s more surprising, is that its much farther than the truth!

Naseeha’s aim is to please the fundamental guidelines of Islam and support the success and wellness of Muslims here in the West and everywhere help is needed.

Practising Islam in the West, and arguably anywhere, isn’t always easy. For those who are living in the N.America, they are exposed to varying non-Islamic habits and practices by their peers in communities, schools, at work or in any social circle. Naseeha understands the challenges faced by Muslims living in N.America, and encourages callers to speak about their struggles in a non-judgemental fashion. Naseeha counsellors are multicultural and diverse, and have all spent either their whole lives or a majority of it in the continent. They understand the challenges and strive to support you through your difficulties.

Issues we help with?

Many a times, callers are concerned if Allah (God), is willing to forgive? They often need reminders that Allah is the most forgiving and loves to forgive. HE knows humans make mistakes, and is the reason why he created us in the first place. To turn to him and repent. This is one of the greatest act that one can do. By calling Naseeha, your fulfilling one step that proves you want to be closer to HIM, and your willing to do what it takes to be forgiven. Sometimes, the greatest one who believes, is often the one that acts on a sin and repents soon after. So our question to you is, “Do you want to be close to your Creator?”

Does Naseeha give out legal Islamic Advice?

No, Naseeha is not a fiqh (Islamic Legal Opinion) line and does not strive to be such. We seek to support callers in working through their challenges without dictating what they are and are not to believe. We encourage callers to share their thoughts without worrying about having a judgement passed upon them or their actions.

Are Naseeha Counselors Scholars of Islam?

Our counsellors are not scholars of Islam. They are often trained in both secular and religious issues that the Muslim youth faces today and keeps current views on current events. We do not hold specific views in ideology or school of thought as we feel we are the first point of contact to those in need. When callers want to be directed in a more deeper dialogue, we suggest that they consult an Imam at their local Masajid.

Bayyinah’s mission is to enrich individuals, families and institutions by making Arabic and Qur’anic studies accessible to the world. All of our programs offer comprehensive study resources to guide our students toward their educational goals. We strongly believe that education in both of these areas should be innovative, affordable and easy to understand.

Muslim Matters began in 2007 as a collaboration between various Bloggers and Shuyukh in order to bring attention to issues faced by Muslims, especially in the West. We have focused on issues of Religion, Society, Ethics, Sex Education, Politics, Civil Rights, Family, as well as the random issues that pop up from now and then, all with some ranting and humor mixed in.
