Planting the Seeds of Hope

Join us on November 18th, as Naseeha hosts its 3rd Annual Benefit Gala at the Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex in Toronto. Funds raised will be used to expand Naseeha’s  hours of operation, increase the number of counsellors, provide on-going training, and market our services across North America.

About Naseeha 
Launched in 2006 Naseeha Muslim Youth Helpline provides counseling for youth to receive immediate, anonymous and confidential support over the phone from 6-9pm EST, Monday to Friday in North America.  Issues include Mental Health, Abuse, Drugs, Sexual Orientation, and parent relationships.

Our MC for the evening
Imam Yasin Dwyer is a Muslim chaplain at Ryerson University in Toronto, Ontario.  He lectures extensively on topics such as spirituality and the arts, Black Canadian culture and the history of Muslims in the West.

Our Gala will feature a memorable evening with a keynote by former NFL player Hamza Abdullah. We will present an overview of Naseeha’s goals and upcoming projects for 2018 as you enjoy a delicious 3 course meal prepared by the award-winning Executive Chef Michael Ewing.

Our Speakers Include

Hamza Muhammad Abdullah is a former American football safety. He is the older brother of former NFL safety Husain Abdullah. Abdullah was raised as a devout Muslim. Hamza, together with his brother Husain, chose to take the 2012 NFL season off in order to make a pilgrimage to Mecca. Hamza became an author and released his first book/memoir in January 2017; Hamza Abdullah: Come Follow Me.

Ustadh Amjad Tarsin is the University of Toronto’s first full-time Muslim Chaplain. After spending a year studying Islam abroad at Dar al-Mustafa, Yemen, he returned to America to study at the University of Michigan Law School. Ustadh Amjad then changed career paths and enrolled in Hartford Seminary’s Islamic Chaplaincy program. Ustadh Amjad continues to study and teach on a regular basis at SeekersHub Toronto.
